The Topsail Island Museum, Missiles and More...

The Missiles and More Museum is open the season! The Museum features Topsail Island’s rich history and artifacts of the island from prehistoric to present time.

 

Displays showing the history of the Navy test missile site of the 1940s, artifacts of Native Americans found on the island, and exhibits of colonial era pirates can be found at the Topsail Island Museum.

Once the assembly area for test missiles, this building now houses the Topsail Island Museum.
 

 It exhibits many permanent displays concerning OPERATION BUMBLEBEE, the U.S. Missiles project that operated on Topsail Island during the 1940’s. The exhibits include a color video of actual missile firings during that time, models of the rockets of those days, and one of the original rockets which washed ashore in 1994 near the site of the original launch pad.

The museum displays artifacts and exhibits from prehistory to the present, including descriptions of early Indian life on the island and exhibits concerning pirate activity which centered on and around Topsail Island during the early colonial days.
The Topsail Island Museum is run by volunteers and is open April through October on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 2 to 4 PM.
