NC Seafood Festival
Morehead City - October 5th-7th, 2012
The North Carolina Seafood Festival is Carteret County’s annual SEAFOOD celebration and the second largest festival in North Carolina. Downtown Morehead City plays host to an average of 200,000+ people each year the “First Weekend in October”.
Founded in 1987 the Festival is known as Carteret County’s premier event. The 3-day celebration has been estimated to impact the economy of and surrounding areas by nearly 32 million dollars. The Festival is a time when the community comes together as more than 2000 volunteers work to make it a success.
The Festival is a time of Celebration and Thanksgiving for our state’s greatest Natural Resource ~ SEAFOOD. The North Carolina Seafood Festival is proud to provide the fund raising avenue for more than 60 non-profit vendors to raise over $125,000.00 each year for their individual organizations. While enjoying the large variety of SEAFOOD available, you can also experience Educational Exhibits and take part in hands on activities for the young and the old. You can also watch as net-menders, crab pot makers and ol’ timers join together to pass on the heritage of the Seafood Industry. Our new Chef’s Tent offers free samples of N.C. fresh Seafood and is a tantalizing experience for the taste buds!
One of the most memorable events of the weekend is the Blessing of the Fleet held on Sunday at the Morehead City State Port. This is a time of honoring those who have lost their lives in the fishing industry and ask for blessings on those continuing this tradition.
The North Carolina Seafood Festival offers various sponsorship opportunities. This is a way businesses and individuals can support the community. You can watch as your contribution triples as it is used to produce a Festival that allows an organization to raise money to benefit their particular cause. Not only will you be supporting your community; you will receive excellent exposure to people from the United States and beyond.

The Mullet Festival!
Come on down to one of the most well known festivals in all of North Carolina, The Mullet Festival in Swansboro! For all you new comers it's not the haircut! It's the Mullet Fish!!
Going for more than 50 years. It was started as a celebration by the residents of Swansboro after the completion of the bridge across the White Oak River in Swansboro (Trivia: Do you know how travelers got across the White Oak River before the bridge was completed?).
Well, that first Swansboro Mullet Festival was so much fun that they decided to have it every year on the second Saturday in October. So, here we are today. Originally, it was just a big cookout, but now the Mullet Festival is much more than that. Oh sure, you can still get your Mullet cooked 50 different ways: fried, broiled, grilled, smoked, stewed (well, maybe not 50) but in addition you can also see tons of arts and crafts, play games and, of course, the Swansboro Mullet Festival Parade.
